THE NEA TAKES OVER

From The Daily Telegraph Weekend, Saturday, February 23, 1991, page 1, we find this interesting analysis of how the professors at the universities are erecting a new religion with dogmas and decrees to it that have to be believed and practiced under threat of persecution. (The NEA, you know, is the news media satellite that they support, and vice versa.) What they are trying to do now is to put into the curriculum of the colleges the religious beliefs of the prostitute press. In doing this, they are setting up a whole series of rules and regulations which are designed to destroy free speech on the campus.

1. “At Smith College in Massachusetts, the administration has provided undergraduates with a list of politically incorrect attitudes, including, in addition to racism and sexism, ‘ageism,’ ‘heterosexisms,’ and ‘lookism,’ which opposes the ugly by presupposing ‘a standard for beauty/attractiveness.’ Likewise, ‘ableism,’ or ‘oppression of the differently abled’ (“disabled” is discriminatory), by the temporarily abled, is firmly prescribed. Similar codes are being put into effect at universities across the country.”

You know what that is? It is an attempt to control your attitude towards five different things that go on in life and line your attitude up with the newspapers. That isn’t just an attempt to control your business and your family; it is an attempt to control your brain.

2. “At the University of Connecticut, the speech code provides that students may be expelled for using ‘derogatory names, inappropriately directed laughter, inconsiderable jokes, and conspicuous exclusion of others from conversation.’ One student was banned from the campus for expressing her view that ‘preppies, bimbos, men without chest hair, and homos’ should be ‘shot on sight.’ Reportedly, a couple of bimbos were the first to protest.”

Do you know what they are saying? They are saying you should eavesdrop on a conversation, and when you hear somebody laughing at something you consider to be an inconsiderate joke—or the people talking won’t let you in the group with whom they are talking—they can be expelled. Go back and read it again.

3. “The University of Missouri School of Journalism has issued a Dictionary of Cautionary Words and Phrases. They tell you what words you can use and what words you cannot use in writing.”

4. “At Haverford College in Pennsylvania, students must complete a ‘Social Justice Requirement,’ in order to graduate.” Social Justice Requirement means that the student is trained to attack police officers or sue policemen if they don’t behave themselves like they think they ought to behave themselves.

5. “A visiting professor at Harvard Law School quoted Byron’s line: ‘And whispering I will ne’er consent—consented’ and was immediately denounced as ‘sexist’ by the Harvard Women’s Law Association.” And so at Stanford University in California, and Tufts University in Massachusetts, what is happening is the long tenure apostates are moving to control not just your speech but your thinking process and your attitude toward speech. Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich was never this totalitarian in control.
